I’m Being Sued For $95,000 Plus Interest Every Year.
Location: Florida
I was in a car accident about 9 years ago. My insurance had just lapsed so I didn’t have insurance at the time of the accident. We all walked away from the accident with no reported injuries. After the accident, the other party pursued chiropractor services and the insurance company gave her $60,000. The insurance company also covered the cost for all of the chiropractic procedures so the total ended up being $95,000. I tried to represent myself because the lawyers I spoke with said it would be like $10k upfront to even talk to them and then there’s no guarantee I would even win since I paid the ticket back in the day instead of fighting it. We went all the way to the hearing for final judgement where I lost because subrogation laws. The final judgement was just signed by the judge yesterday. My question is, does head of household exemption do anything for me? Am I able to avoid them garnishing my wages? $95,000 is insane and then with it growing interest every year, I’d never be able to pay it off. What do I do? Any advice is appreciated :(
