I Don’t Know What To Do

Hi Reddit.

Location: CA (San Diego).

My FIL (Gary) has been in a long and weird relationship with a woman named Susan for 11 years. They are not married and they have never lived together. Gary has lived with us and before I was in the picture he lived with my husband. Anyway, Gary had a medical emergency and became incapacitated. Susan lost her mind when she found out he had no will. So after that she was basically living at the hospital with him. We didn’t fight her on it because he was super out of it and lonely.

We are young and work so we were working. Well he got moved to a nursing facility and she got a medical PoA at some point. No one has evidence of her bringing in a notary. He was not of sound mind the whole time he was there.

Anyway he had another emergency and went back to the hospital but we were barred from making choices. He’s being discharged, he still has brain damage, and he’s getting discharged to her house. She hates his family so we won’t see him again if she takes him. We also have reason to believe she will try to get him to sign a will and then take out his feeding tube. She owes him more than the price of a middle income house in a nice area.

What do we do?

Can we fight this? I just want my husband to see his dad again. Thanks
