Help Navigating One Car Incident (tx)

Card image cap

2013 Hyundai Sonata, engine replaced due to recall about a year ago at the dealership.

My husband was 2 hours into a highway trip going 80, his car started rapidly accelerating to 100, smoke started coming out the vents, the brake did not work, he threw on the parking brake and the car locked up and drifted into the grass, by the time he was getting out the flames were coming out of the bottom of his car under his feet. The car was completely engulfed in a matter of minutes, total loss.

If you look online this isn't the first time similar incidents have happened with this car. It seems like a distinct possiblility that it was either improper installation or manufacturing defect. Now, he thankfully was not injured and has full coverage insurance but I can't stress enough my husband could have died. If I had been driving I would have died.

I have no idea where to start, or if an attorney would even take this case.

Location: resident of Austin, car blew up in Waco.
