First Nda

Card image cap

My Location: Indiana, other party location: Nebraska

21 y/o business owner- I'm getting ready to sign my first NDA and want to make sure i'm not opening myself up to get screwed. Does this mean anything i have electronically basically becomes their property? Should i request this be removed or revised from the NDA- and why even is this in an NDA?

'Pre-Existing Developments; License. For any intellectual property in which the Party claims an ownership or controlling interest, in whole or in part, that were conceived, invented, created, discovered, developed, or otherwise made or reduced to practice by the Party, prior to commencing employment with the Company (“Pre-Existing Developments”), to the extent such Pre-Existing Developments relate to the Company’s actual or anticipated business or research or development or products, the Party hereby does, and shall, grant to the Company (and its successors and assigns) a release and a non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, world-wide license to all Pre-Existing Developments.'

They have a section where IP i get while 'working for them' (i'd be a contractor performing aerial inspections) is theirs which i'm fine with, but this seems weird.
