Dentist Disappeared?? Paid For Procedure.

Card image cap

Hello! Any and all advice is much appreciated. Location: Montgomery County, MD. I’m writing this on behalf of my mom.

She’s in the process of getting a crown procedure. A few weeks ago, she had the temporary crown done. She was supposed to go back Friday of last week for the permanent crown. However, when she showed up, the dentist building windows were blacked out and a sign said they were temporarily closed and would contact customers soon.

There has been zero contact since then. I went today with my mom to visit the building again and it was still closed and now there is a No Trespassing Sign with stickers keeping the door closed. This led me to think the dentist was evicted. MD public court records show he is dealing with a failure to pay rent case for the building that was filed last year.

My mom prepaid for the services, including financing through one of those companies that markets itself to helping pay health bills (since the dentist didn’t allow payment plans directly through him).

What do we do?! This is several thousands of dollars of dental work, including a crown that my mom doesn’t have and a temporary crown that can’t last forever. File complaint with BBB? Small claims? We are not well off in the slightest (as you can tell by needing to finance this procedure).
