Dad In Jail Wants His Money
So my dad went to county jail the beginning of October for something stupid he did that resulted in 2 misdemeanors and a felony. In these 2 months he has burned through about $500 in money put on his books, from my grama and from selling some of his silver bar collection (under his direction, in which a portion went to grama to pay his share of the rent as he was her caregiver). The jail won't tell me what he is buying, he has only said coffee, thermal ware, reading glasses(as his prescription glasses were metal frame so he was not allowed to have them), and candy. Anyway, he has been demanding i take his debit card and withdraw $400 from his account to add to his books (he recently claimed he owes the jail medical $58 but did not say what for so idk), grama does not want me to do this, I don't really want to do this. I have been brushing him off by saying I could get in trouble since 1)I'm not listed on his account anywhere and 2) it's money from the government (disability).
Is it legal for me to go ahead and withdraw from his account, under his request, to add to his books?
