Car Towed + Parking Ticket. Nothing To Notify Me That I Was In A _temporarily_ Illegal Spot.
Location: New Jersey
I've lived at my current residence for the last six years and I overlook a "major" street. For all six of these years I've never seen the city tow anyone on this street for inclement weather. We had a large snowstorm in my area these last two days ~1 foot. Yesterday my car was towed while parked on this street. I checked each day for any signs or notifications that this would be legal, which already felt superfluous as, again, I haven't seen anyone get towed here in the last six years. For additional context we just had a snowstorm like three weeks ago as well and no signs were posted then, people parked on the road, nobody was towed. When I spoke with my local PD they said that they HAD given "sufficient notification to residents" in "multiple locations". When I asked what they meant by that they said "our facebook page" and "we posted signs". 1) No they absolutely did not post signs - I have the photographs down the entire street to show that there is not one singular sign. and 2) Am I supposed to be responsible to a) have Facebook and b) befriend my local PD and then also monitor their social media page? This seems...overwhelmingly like a cash grab by my town and I'm now out 350$ for a tow and a 50$ parking ticket on top of that. Is there any recourse for me and if so what should I be doing?
