1099 Worker- Being Told I Can No Longer “sign In” At A Certain Time
Location: San Diego So I’m a stripper and pay whenever I work. I was recently told that I’m no longer “allowed to sign in at x time,” because after I go on stage, I go to a bar next door. A lot of the girls sign in during this time because our house fee is cheaper. (We have to pay our house whenever we work plus tip out 20% of whatever we make) I sign in at this time so my house is only $20- it’s usually dead afterwards, so I go to the bar and eat and have some drinks until the crowd picks up. I was recently told that my sign-in time was revoked because I go to the bar vs being at the club. As long as I’m going on stage, paying my house, I’m well within my rights to go next door? I paid my house, not my problem that it’s dead. Is this legal? Am I actually not allowed to sign in at this time because I’ll leave and come back? I think that as long as I’m paying my house and tipping out (which isn’t mandatory) I should be allowed to leave when it’s dead and come back???
