[oregon, Usa] Parents Have Conservatorship Over Disabled Brother, Can They Limit My Relationship With Him?
Location: Oregon, USA.
Using my throwaway for obvious reasons.
I (33) have a developmentally disabled brother (24). He is under a conservatorship currently managed by my parents. This conservatorship is necessary, its not a free Brittany situation.
Brother and I are extremely close. We video call 4-6 times a week, he spends the night at my place once a week, and I am employed as one of his DSWs (direct support worker) through my state.
While brother and I are great, the broader family dynamic is deeply dysfunctional and complicated. I recently mentioned to my parents that I was considering no longer participating in family therapy.
In response, they very, *very* heavily implied that if I stop going to therapy, they will limit and possibly forbid contact with my brother.
Im curious about the legalities of this. There is no valid reason to limit contact. I am not unsafe and we have a well established relationship.
Is this something they are allowed to do?
