Lawmakers Relaunch Bipartisan Flood Resilience Caucus

The following information was released by the office of Texas Rep. Lizzie Fletcher:
Lawmakers said the relaunch was in response to the deadly Texas floods in July and will focus on strengthening critical infrastructure and creating long-term policy solutions to protect coastal communities and other high-risk areas.
The caucus will be co-led by Reps. Lizzie Fletcher (D-Texas), Randy Weber (R-Texas), Troy Carter (D-La.) and Mike Ezell (R-Miss.).
"It is critical that Congress works to protect communities across the country from the devastating impacts of flooding," Fletcher said in a statement.
In conjunction with the caucus relaunch, Carter, Ezell and Rep. Cleo Fields (D-La.) sent a letter to House Financial Services Committee leaders urging them to reauthorize the National Flood Insurance Program, which is set to expire Sept. 30.
Congress has for years been unable to come up with a bipartisan flood insurance reauthorization. Lawmakers have kept the program alive through stopgaps.
