WHAT:

Elizabeth Heck, president and CEO of Greater New York Insurance Companies and former chair of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies, will testify before Congress on the urgent need to reauthorize the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act.

WHERE:

House Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance

2128 Rayburn House Office Building, Washington, D.C.

WHY:

The hearing, The Reauthorization of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act of 2002, will highlight the importance of TRIA as a critical public-private risk-sharing program. Heck will underscore TRIAs success in ensuring the availability of terrorism coverage, its role in stabilizing the insurance market, and the need for swift, long-term reauthorization to prevent disruption in commercial projects and policyholder protections.

TRIAs provisions not only reduce the fear of catastrophic insolvency from terrorist attacks but also help stabilize the broader U.S. economy by allowing construction, real estate development, and other critical industries to move forward with confidence.
