Identity verification and remote online notarization (RON) firm Proof — formerly known as Notarize — is adding a new face to its C-suite.

On Thursday, the Boston-based firm announced that Ian Macallister was joining Proof as its new executive vice president of strategy and business development.

“Ian has earned the trust of some of the most risk-averse and influential players in the financial industry,” Proof CEO Pat Kinsel said in a statement. “His credibility and experience navigating complex payments and compliance challenges to create new revenue streams and scale emerging technologies make him a huge asset to Proof and our partners.”

Macallister most recently served in senior leadership roles at Plaid, Unit21 and Early Warning. At these companies, he focused on partnerships and product strategy related to identity, risk and payments.

At Early Warning, he helped to scale the popular payment platform Zelle, working with banks, card networks and core processors to drive adoption of real-time payments.

“I’ve spent my career collaborating with and within banks and fintechs to bridge gaps in identity, risk, and payment infrastructure. What drew me to Proof is their ability to not only verify identity, but to anchor it to high-value transactions in a way that’s reusable, privacy-conscious, and fraud-resistant,” Macallister said in a statement.

Once known exclusively for providing RON services, Proof has diversified into identity verification services. This includes a deepfake detection tool, which the company launched in October 2024.
