New York-based Ocrulus, which offers mortgage document automation technology to speed credit decisions, announced Wednesday that it has hired Nadia Aziz as its general manager of mortgage.

The company said in a press release that mortgage is its fastest-growing business segment. Ocrulus has expanded its mortgage footprint over the past 18 months by adding new customers each week and supporting more than 130 partners in total — including CrossCountry Mortgage, Newrez, Better and Veterans United Home Loans.

Aziz will lead the company’s newly formed mortgage business unit. She has extensive experience in digital mortgage origination and technology, previously serving in executive roles at Roostify, Opendoor and Optimal Blue.

“I’m thrilled to share that I’ve started a new role as GM of Mortgage at Ocrulus,” Aziz wrote Wednesday on LinkedIn. “The future of mortgage lending is now, and Ocrulus is uniquely positioned to lead this transformation.

“The company has built a strong foundation with AI-driven automation and analytics, serving over 130 forward-thinking mortgage customers and growing. The Mortgage Business Unit will focus on turning static documents into actionable data, simplifying and accelerating every stage of the origination lifecycle.”

During her time at Optimal Blue, Aziz helped to increase the company’s profitability, which eventually led to its 2016 acquisition by private equity firm GTCR.

The new mortgage business unit at Ocrulus aims to help lenders “improve efficiency, accuracy and customer satisfaction through advanced automation tools for data verification, income calculation and loan evaluation,” the company explained in its announcement.

In October 2024, Ocrulus launched Inspect, a new tool designed to improve efficiency and scalability for loan originators. The product integrates with ICE Mortgage Technology’s Encompass origination system and automates previously manual tasks like the flagging of inconsistent data. Ocrulus said at the time that it supports more than 95% of mortgage document types.
