Nonprofit Senior Living Operator Cassia Names New Ceo

Cassia Senior Community Services has promoted Matthew Kern to CEO, effective October 1.
Kern, who joined Cassia in 2017 and is currently the organization’s COO, has helped guide the company’s communities through the Covid-19 pandemic and changes in the senior living workforce, according to a news release.
“It’s a great honor to be selected as Cassia’s next CEO,” Kern said in the news release. “I’m deeply aware of the responsibility this role carries and I’m committed to building on the foundation laid by those who came before me.”
A representative for Cassia did not elaborate on the move when reached by Senior Housing News Thursday.
Cassia Board of Directors Chair Chip Parks said Kern was a “wonderful choice” to lead Cassia “into its next era.”
“He has demonstrated his commitment to the mission and goals of Cassia over the past eight years as well as his ability to inspire those he leads to show the same commitment,” Parks said.
Kern will take over for longtime CEO Bob Dahl who is retiring after over three decades of service with Edina, Minnesota-based Cassia.
According to the Cassia website, the company operates 47 senior living communities spanning independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, short-term rehabilitation, adult daycare services and community-based programs across five states.
