New Real Estate Investigation On ‘deceptive Practices’ Launched By Moehrl Lead Counsel

Hagens Berman, a law firm specializing in class action litigation that served as the co-lead counsel in the Moehrl commission lawsuit, is taking another look at the real estate industry.

In a release published on Friday, the law firm stated that it has initiated an investigation into real estate agent practices regarding home sale transactions. The law firm states that if a consumer has sold a home since 2021, they “may be impacted by recently uncovered practices and could be eligible for potential compensation.”

“Attorneys encourage those who have sold a home with the assistance of an online real estate agent since 2021 to contact the law firm to learn more about their rights,” the statement continues.

While the initial call to action mentions “online real estate agents,” elsewhere in the release consumers who worked with a “real estate agent” and not specifically an “online” one, are urged to contact the firm.

The law firm states that its research has identified “allegedly deceptive practices” that they claim may have impacted consumers nationwide, violating their consumer rights and causing home sellers to overpay.

“Our investigation is about making sure the real estate market is fair and just for consumers,” Steve W. Berman, the managing partner of Hagens Berman and co-lead counsel in the commission lawsuits, said in a statement. “Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest financial decisions people make. Our job is to make sure families can trust the process and aren’t taken advantage of. If we find that consumers were misled, we’re prepared to act to hold companies responsible.”

Although it is unclear where this investigation will lead, it may cast a shadow over the real estate industry, which recently saw the dismissal of three antitrust lawsuits against the National Association of Realtors
