Life Plan Humboldt announces name for new project
Nonprofit organization Life Plan Humboldt announced Humboldt Commons, the name for its first senior living community in McKinleyville, California, according to a news release.
Plans are moving forward for a campus of approximately 101 cottage and apartment units to be built in a way to support independence, active lifestyles and intergenerational connections, according to the release.
LPH is working with Rural Community Housing Development Corporation to develop a two-acre portion of the property for 50 affordable senior living apartments.
Kingsbury Living announces plans to grow in Ohio
Kingsbury Living recently announced that Lancaster, Ohio will serve as the first city for a plan that will eventually include a “statewide network of senior living communities,” with the opening of Kingsbury Living-Lancaster, according to a news release.
The $28 million project will include independent living, assisted living and villas, along with a memory care segment with 81 assisted living units and 32 independent luxury villas, the release states.
Daily amenities include restaurant-style dining along with a library, pub, bistro, fitness center and salon.
Heritage Community of Kalamazoo announces 55+ project
Heritage Community of Kalamazoo announced it has purchased land in Texas Township for $1.2 million with plans to develop a 55+ community known as The Halstead.
The project will bring upscale villa homes to the property with a hybrid living concept that “combine the convenience of apartment-style living, with the space of a townhome design,” according to a news release.
Phase one is expected to include 60 villas, with the potential to increase up to 105 in the future with open concept layouts with two bedrooms or two bedrooms plus a den, ranging between 1,400 and 2,200 square-feet.
55+ community announced in Virginia
Peak Construction announced plans for a new, 55+ community in Massanutten, Virginia known as BluestonePeak at Massanutten Mountain.
The development spans nearly 200 acres of rolling mountain terrain with amenities including pickleball courts, walking, hiking and cycling trails, two golf courses, fitness and wellness programming at the resident clubhouse, according to a news release.
A permanent sales center will open next spring.

YWCA Greater Newburyport, Element Care PACE start affordable housing expansion
The YWCA Greater Newburyport announced the start of construction on the second phase of an affordable housing project in collaboration with Element Care Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) in Methuen, Massachusetts, according to a news release.
The expansion will add an additional 48 units of affordable housing for a total of 96 units at the community, with the first phase opening in May of this year. The community includes a PACE Methuen Center for services offered to older adults, while also offering living units for older adults.
Trillium Woods expansion completes second phase
Construction and real estate management firm Kraus-Anderson announced the completion of phase two at Trillium Woods senior living community in Plymouth, Minnesota, according to a news release.
The $41.8 million expansion includes a five-story addition that includes 18 assisted living units, 16 memory care units, 52 independent living units and 67 underground parking spaces at the life plan community.
The “prarie-style community” is situated on a 46-acre property with walking trails and hiking paths, along with a pub, cafe, pickleball court, library, auditorium, art studio and guest suites.

Merrill Gardens set to open new community in California
Merrill Gardens announced the planned opening of Novelle, a new senior living community in San Jose, California, according to a LinkedIn post.
The four-story community includes multiple layouts with in-unit washers and dryers, climate-controlled settings and units featuring balconies and emergency communication systems. Amenities include a theater, bistro, outdoor courtyards, scheduled and personal transportation, housekeeping services, along with restaurant-style dining at the community’s Mosaic restaurant, according to the Novelle website.
The community is set to open in the coming weeks, according to the post.
Liberty Heights completes renovation project
Liberty Heights, a senior living community in Colorado Springs, Colorado announced the completion of an $8 million renovation to its independent living residences, according to a news release.
The project made improvements to the community’s dining room, common areas and residential corridors that included new flooring, lighting and overall design changes.
The community includes 234 residences and offers a full continuum of care, from independent living to skilled nursing.
Amenities include restaurant-style dining, an indoor pool and fitness center, on-site therapy, a bistro and bar, salon and barbershop, bocce court and dedicated spaces for art, gardening and community events.
