Champion Homes Names Dave Mckinstray As Next Cfo
Champion Homes, Inc. announced yesterday that finance executive Dave McKinstray will join the company as Executive VP, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer, effective January 12. He will succeed Laurie Hough, who will retire after more than 25 years with Champion Homes.
Hough plans to remain with Champion Homes until May 31, serving in a transition role.
McKinstray most recently served as CFO and Senior VP at WK Kellogg Co., which became an independent company in October 2023 following a spin-off from Kellogg Company. Italian firm Ferrero purchased WK Kellogg Co. in September of this year, an acquisition that McKinstray helped oversee.
McKinstray held various positions at Kellogg from 2010 to 2023, and has spent most of his career in the food and beverage industry.
While he doesn’t have prior direct experience in the homebuilding sector, Tim Larson, President and CEO at Champion, said in a press statement that he is confident in McKinstray’s “unique combination of strategic insight, operational rigor, and consumer focus.”
McKinstray, in the same press release, noted Champion Homes’ “long and impressive history of delivering much-needed housing solutions.”
A leading builder in manufactured and mobile home production
Champion Homes is a Michigan-based manufactured homebuilder that specializes in mobile and modular home production in the United States and western Canada.
The homes are produced in one of the company’s 46 manufacturing facilities using an assembly-line approach. Modules are built section by section, including walls, roofing, and interior fixtures.
After this process is complete, the finished modules are delivered to the designated lot or site, and quality assurance inspectors verify that the homes comply with building codes.
This operation allows Champion Homes to deliver simple, small houses affordably. Last quarter, the firm’s average selling price for homes sold in the US was only $98,700.
Champion Homes operates a family of more than 15 brands, including manufactured homes brands Champion Homes, Skyline Homes, J. Redman Homes, Dutch Housing, Silvercrest, Atlantic Homes, Titan Homes, ScotBilt Homes, Highland Manufactured, Genesis Homes, and Excel Homes. All American Homes and New Era Building Systems are the company’s modular homes brands.
Champion Homes also has physical retail locations through its Champion Homes Center, Regional Homes, and Titan Factory Direct brands, and ventures into park models and cabins with Athens Park and Shore Park, a subsidiary of Skyline Homes.
The company also operates Star Fleet Trucking, which provides transportation services, primarily for manufactured housing and RV trailers.
