Today I'm putting the Hypershell X Ultra S to the test at my off-grid property! I'm usually much more comfortable in a cowboy hat with a tool bag in my hand than wearing futuristic technology, so I honestly wasn't sure what to expect from this thing.
The Hypershell X Ultra S is a powered outdoor exoskeleton designed to assist your movement while walking, running, climbing hills and navigating different types of terrain. So instead of just walking around camp and calling it a review, I wanted to find out whether this crazy piece of wearable technology could actually be useful in MY world.
I put it through a series of real-world tests around the property—walking, running, climbing hills, navigating rough rocky terrain and eventually carrying tools and lumber. The farther I went, the more I started thinking about something I've been wanting to do for a while: build a small off-grid cabin on the back side of the property.
Getting building materials and tools back there means hauling everything through rough terrain and uphill by hand. Could a powered exoskeleton like the Hypershell actually make jobs like that easier?
That's when this went from being a fun futuristic gadget to something I could potentially see myself using for off-grid projects, cabin building, property maintenance and other hard outdoor work.
The X Ultra S uses intelligent motion assistance that responds to the way you move, with modes designed for walking, running, uphill, downhill, stairs, gravel, mountain terrain, snow and more. Hypershell lists up to 1,000W of peak assistance and 12 intelligent modes on the X Ultra S.
I'm definitely not your typical futuristic-tech guy... which might be exactly why this test was so much fun.
