New Room Setup – Panel Placement, Listening Position & Acoustic Advice

Card image cap

Hi everyone,

I recently moved into a new space and I'm trying to optimize the layout for my home studio. The room is untreated for now, but I already own a full set of GIK panels from my previous setup. I’d love advice on ideal desk and monitor positioning, listening spot, and panel placement for mixing and production.

???? Room Dimensions (see attached)

3.92 m (width) × 2.99 m (depth) × 2.90 m (height)

???? Features

Sliding glass door in right wall (must remain accessible)
Radiator next to the sliding door (bottom-left)
Closet along the entire left wall (rarely used — can mount removable panels on it)
The floor is laminate wood, and the walls are hard-surface brick

???? Furniture

Desk: Thomann Studio Table XL (1510 mm wide) with Neumann KH 120 II monitors on the riser.
Synth rack: Jaspers 4D-120 (4-tier, 130 cm wide) — flexible placement (left or right of desk).

????️ Panels I Already Own

From my previous studio, I already have the following GIK panels:

6 × GIK 242 panels (600 × 1200 mm)
4 × GIK Monster FRT Narrow (300 × 1200 mm)
2 × GIK Monster FRT Rectangle with Scatter Plate (600 × 1200 × 167 mm)
2 × Cloud Mounting Bracket Sets (planning to use them for ceiling panels)

✅ Goals

Focused mixing and production setup (mainly electronic music)
Preserve monitor symmetry
Proper listening position + bass control
Aesthetic is less important than function
Comfortable workflow with access to synth rack and sliding door

Would love help with:

Best position for the desk and listening spot
Where to place the bass traps, ceiling cloud, and 242 panels
Thoughts on the synth rack positioning
Thanks in advance!
