Is total honesty good for relationships? Learn the truth about honesty in relationships, openness, and trust in love.

In this video, I break down the difference between honesty in relationships and openness, and why confusing the two can destroy trust. From an evolutionary relationship psychology perspective, honesty - not radical openness - is what keeps couples together.

We’ll look at questions like:

-How can you be honest without hurting your partner?

The truth is, total openness makes it almost impossible to stay honest. But total honesty in relationships is realistic if you and your partner agree on how much detail to share. That’s why I argue you can’t be too honest in a relationship - you can only be too open.

Drawing on relationship psychology, I explain why humans evolved to be “allergic” to lies, and why trust depends on keeping honesty at 100%. I also share a personal story of how trying to be 100% open and 100% honest backfired, proving that relationship trust and honesty must be handled with care.
