Colorado Couple Helps Seniors Live Safely At Home

GOLDEN — As Colorado‘s population of adults 65 and older grows at one of the fastest rates in the nation, a local couple is working to help older residents stay safe and independent in their homes.

In Brief:
  • Colorado’s senior population continues to grow rapidly
  • Local couple focuses on home safety and fall prevention
  • Falls are the leading cause of injury among older adults
  • Efforts emphasize trust, reliability, and community partnerships

Cassondra and Miles Bottoms have built a business centered on home safety, fall prevention and reliable maintenance for seniors looking to age in place. Both have backgrounds in the retirement industry, which inspired their shift toward helping older adults remain in familiar surroundings.

“This is something that my wife and I are passionate about,” Miles Bottoms said. “We both have experience working with retirees, and it made us think about what life looks like after people stop working. Now, we serve the same community in a new way: making sure they can live safely and comfortably at home.”

Fall prevention is a cornerstone of their work. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that falls are the leading cause of injury for adults 65 and older, sending roughly 3 million people to emergency rooms each year and resulting in about 1 million hospitalizations. In Colorado, 30.5% of older adults reported falling in 2020, and 920 died from fall-related injuries in 2021.

The couple provides a range of home services, including grab bar installations, wheelchair ramp rentals and general maintenance to eliminate hazards and improve accessibility. Their goal is to help seniors avoid accidents and feel secure in their homes.

They also prioritize trust and professionalism, hiring technicians who are background-checked, insured and employed directly. “We want families to feel confident about who’s entering their home,” Bottoms said.

By partnering with community groups such as the Golden Chamber of Commerce and home health organizations, the couple is connecting with seniors and caregivers across the region. Their mission, they say, is to ensure that aging in place remains a safe and dignified option for Coloradans.
