Judge rules NSW police officer who fatally shot 95-year-old with a Taser should remain in the community while sentence considered

The family of a 95-year-old woman who died after being shot in a New South Wales nursing home with a Taser have said they are “struggling to understand” why the police officer convicted of her manslaughter is allowed to remain on bail.

The supreme court heard on Friday that jail is not “inevitable” for Sen Const Kristian James Samuel White, who was found guilty in a unanimous jury verdict of the manslaughter of Clare Nowland in the NSW supreme court on Wednesday.
