Texas A&m Defeats Lamar 13-6 Behind Ben Royo's Grand Slam

Texas A&M (25-19, 8-12 SEC) once again took care of business during its midweek matchup after being swept on the road by No. 1 Texas, defeating a 36 win Lamar team 13-6 behind five home runs and 13 hits, including a grand slam by second baseman Ben Royo, and two solo homers from star outfielder Caden Sorrell.
Wiping the slate clean after enduring three consecutive one run losses was the main goal entering the week, and after trailing 1-0 heading into the third inning, A&M's offense woke up, as Ben Royo's two-run home run led two his fourth inning RBI fly out, which spurred the Aggies' fifth inning explosion. Royo led the Aggies with seven RBI.
Leading 3-1, Wyatt Henseler hit his tenth home run of the year, and after Caden Sorrell scored on a throwing error, Ben Royo stepped up to the plate with bases loaded, hitting his eigth home run and first grand slam of the year, as the Aggies led 9-1 heading into the sixth. However, after Caden Sorrell's solo homer, Lamar went on its own run in the top of the 8th.
Trailing 10-1, Lamar scored five runs in the eighth, as freshman pitcher Caden McCoy faced a bases-loaded situation, but got out of the jam to head into the bottom of the frame.
For insurance purposes, Caden Sorrell continued to prove that he is the most talented player on the roster, hitting his ninth homer of the year, and combined with a bases-loaded walk, the Aggies took care of business before facing LSU on Friday night.
Outside of the late five runs allowed, Texas A&M's bats were reignited, and the hope is that this team the Texas sweep is behind a team that needs at least five more SEC wins to make into the SEC Tournament.
Note: Head coach Michael Earley was ejected the game after arguing a call.
