North Lincoln Baseball Will Play For An Nchsaa 3a State Title. Here's How.

With a berth in the NCHSAA 3A championship series at stake, North Lincoln baseball was short on drama in taking care of its business Thursday night.

The fifth-ranked Knights made light work of No. 7 North Davidson, earning a 16-1 win in six innings to sweep the best-of-three 3A West championship series. North Lincoln moves on to next week’s best-of-three 3A state final, where it will take on 3A East champion J.H. Rose or Terry Sanford. That series is tied 1-1, with a winner-take-all Game 3 set for Friday night.

NO FLAW IN HIS GAME: Baseball can wait. Kellen Karr, North Lincoln basketball look to play well into February

North Lincoln ensured there would be no need for a decisive third game in its series, scoring three runs on four hits in the first inning. The Knights added two more in the third, Chad Matthews and Bryson Summey offering RBI base hits.

After North Davidson scratched a run across in the bottom of the third, North Lincoln provided a gut punch of its own with four runs in the fourth. Following an Eli Sipe double which scored two, Tucker Sigmon hit a two-run homer to put the Knights up 9-1.

Sigmon hit another home run in the sixth, part of a seven-run inning for North Lincoln. He finished 3-for-3 with four RBIs, while Eli Sipe was 3-for-5 with three doubles and five RBIs. Matthews, Summey and Elliott Dellinger finished with two hits apiece.

Such was more than enough for Coastal Carolina signee Kellen Karr, who allowed one run on four hits with nine strikeouts over five innings.

North Lincoln has won 11 consecutive games. The Knights seek their second title in program history, joining its NCHSAA 2A state crown earned in 2019.
