The popular video conferencing tool, Google Meet, is getting a new AI-powered makeup feature. It will use artificial intelligence to map your face and do a digital touch-up in real time. This can be a real lifesaver for employees who are in work-from-home roles and are often required to attend video calls on very short notice.

Google is rolling out a new update for its Meet app, introducing a new AI-powered makeup feature. This particular update expands on the existing “Touch Up” feature, which previously allowed users to adjust lighting and smooth skin tones. The users will now have an option to instantly apply digital foundation, lipstick, and more subtle touches to their face.

The tech giant has also added 12 studio-inspired presets to the feature. To further boost its usability, the company has added AI adaptive mapping support. This basically means that the makeup won’t look like an artificial filter pasted on your face. The touch-up will move naturally with your facial expressions, even staying in place when you turn your head or do some sort of movement in front of the camera.

The feature will be available for both web and mobile apps

Google Meet’s new AI makeup feature has already started rolling out globally. Most users should be able to access it over the coming weeks. It will be available across both mobile and web apps. The feature is accessible to Google Workspace Business Standard, Enterprise Starter, Standard, and Education Plus users with the Teaching and Learning add-on. Individual Google One and Workspace subscribers are said to get access soon.

Also, keep in mind that the feature is turned off by default. You can enable it before or even during a call through the effects panel. The system is also designed to remember your last selected style.
