Fans Saddened By Dodgers' Major Roster Decision On Sunday

The Los Angeles Dodgers are currently 29-17 and sitting in first place in the NL West, however, have lost two games in a row to the Los Angeles Angels.

On Sunday, the organization made a major roster decision, announcing that they've officially designated longtime journeyman and two-time World Series champion Chris Taylor for assignment.

Taylor has been a staple of Dodgers baseball over the last 10 seasons and is well-known for his clutch performances in the playoffs, his ability to play all over the field, and do exactly what was needed of him to help the team win.

He appeared in 1,007 games for Los Angeles, tallying 3,154 at bats, 790 hits, 108 home runs, 423 RBI's, 81 stolen bases, and a career batting average over the period of .250.

Taylor was named an All-Star in 2021, hit a walk-off home run in the 2021 wild card round against the St. Louis Cardinals, and was named a co-NLCS MVP in 2017.

The news certainly struck a chord with Dodgers fans, many of whom have grown deeply appreciative of Taylor’s impact on both the franchise and the city throughout his decade-long career.

"streets will never forget 2017 Chris Taylor," a fan said.

Someone else added, "Thank you for everything Chris."

Another fan posted, "Hate it but it had to be done."

"Sometimes I don’t like the business side of baseball!!! Good luck CT3 . Thank you for many good memories!!" One more fan commented

While Taylor has been a vital piece to the team’s success over the years, this was a move that had become overdue. His role with the team has steadily decreased each season, and this year, his production has hit an all-time low.

He’s appeared in 28 games this season and has logged just 35 at-bats, with only seven hits, zero home runs, and two RBIs. He’s batting just .200 with a .457 OPS. Now, he hits the open market, where he could be an intriguing name for several teams across the league.
