The Los Angeles Sparks will be part of history on opening day on Friday when they take on the Golden State Valkyries, who will play in their first-ever game in the WNBA.

The Sparks will visit the Valkyries, the league's newest expansion team, at Chase Center, marking another milestone for the WNBA.

Los Angeles, meanwhile, will play its first home game on Sunday against the Minnesota Lynx at Crypto.com Arena.

The team, however, has already gotten negative comments after one season-ticket holder claimed that the Sparks had suddenly refunded the purchase.

"I'm beyond anger at this point," read a post on Reddit. "What a way to treat your fans. I planned on taking friends and family to all the games. Did not sell one ticket.

"I don't have any reason from them but this crappy email."

According to the supposed email, which the fan also shared, the Sparks seemingly made an arbitrary decision.

"With interest in the WNBA growing at an accelerated pace, we are constantly analyzing and evaluating our business strategies and opportunities to enhance fan experience," read the email.

"To that end, we have determined that we need to make some adjustments, which will directly impact your account."

Fans expressed their dismay with the Sparks over the alleged development.

"This is a whole 'nother level of screwing the fans, especially those who were were loyal to the team," said a commenter.

"So they are randomly going to start taking our tickets if they think they can get more for them at the last minute?" asked another fan.

"Damn, that's not right smh," wrote a Reddit user.

"This is truly disgusting. This needs to blow up and they need to make it right," added a fan.

"That is insane. How would that be legal?" said another fan.

The Sparks finished with a league-worst 8-32 record last season, including 5-15 at home.

The veracity of the claim remains unclear, but if proven true, the WNBA could look into the issue.
