Entrepreneurship Can Be So Isolating Sometimes
I am self employed and have been for 7 years. I'm now 30 and I'm starting to feel like I need a challenge... socially or mentally.. idk something!
I'm noticing conflict in my relationships and having trouble expanding my lifestyle. I'm wondering if I need to build more skills? What can I do to gain more relational experience that isn't directly serving me? I've obviously maintained and built relationships for my business, and they all like me! Because it's work and sales at the end of the day.
I hardly have any work experience outside of working for myself so I feel that I miss out the community that comes with being apart of an organization or working with others. I feel out of touch at times and sometimes I think it's because I'm my own echo chamber I don't have coworkers, rules, communal goals/shared objectives, or anything to that effect you know? So no holiday parties for meee lol
What are some ideas: Volunteer work? Join a club? Get on a board? I've recently started subbing at local schools just 1 day a week and while that is stretching my patience, right, and vocabulary and learning how to speak to a new audience, it's not quite the audience lol. It's fun though, the kids are great and I enjoy the work!
I don't know if this makes sense and I also don't mean to come off dense but these are things I think about from time to time
TLDR: building skills through real work and experience not through TikToks, books and podcasts.
Thanks!
