Column: Back On The Right Track, Possibly

Week 5 left me with a winning record, but it should have been even better.

The selections were 3-2 last week. Arizona (-8.5) lost to Tennessee 22-21 despite leading 21-6 in the fourth quarter. It was a disaster for Cardinals fans, if there are any in Crawford County.

Kansas City (-3) was my other miss. The Chiefs fell 31-28 to Jacksonville on Monday Night Football.

Detroit (-10.5) took care of business 37-24 against the Bengals. The Vikings (-3) beat Cleveland 21-17 in London and Dallas (-2.5) defeated the Jets 37-22.

On the season, we are 11-13-1. Week 6:

• Baltimore +7.5: Baltimore hosts the L.A. Rams in what feels like a must-win game for the the Ravens. Despite coming into the season with lofty expectations, Baltimore is 1-4 and star quarterback Lamar Jackson is expected to be out for the second straight game.

The Rams are 3-2 and are playing some decent football, but there is just no way the Ravens fall to 1-5, right?

• Indianapolis -7: Indianapolis is a touchdown-favorite at home against the faltering Cardinals. The Colts have been a surprise this season with a 4-1 record, while the Cards are 2-3.

Daniel Jones is resurrecting his career in Indy and has the team averaging 32.6 points per game, good enough for second in the league.

• Jacksonville +1.5: The Jaguars are 4-1 and somehow don’t feel like an AFC powerhouse. But they have wins over Kansas City, San Francisco and Houston. Maybe Jacksonville is really good this year.

The Jags are a home dog against Seattle this week. The Seahawks are 3-2 with two one-possession losses this season. This game should be a good one.

• New England -3.5: The Patriots moved to 3-2 with a win at Buffalo last week and head to the 1-4 New Orleans Saints. Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is on a roll this season with seven touchdowns and two picks.

New Orleans earned its first win of the year against the Giants last week, but with the way New England is playing, I think this one is a blowout.

• Buffalo -4: My beloved Buffalo Bills dropped last week’s game, but they should bounce back on Monday Night Football in Atlanta this week. Michael Penix Jr. has three touchdowns and three interceptions on the year, while Josh Allen has nine touchdowns and two interceptions.

As long as the Bills can stay out of their own way as far as penalties they should be okay on Monday.
