3 Stars From Oklahoma Sooners Sweep In The Norman Regional

It was a roaring weekend for the Oklahoma Sooners in the Norman Regional as they outscored their opponents 31-3 in the sweep. Oklahoma put on an impressive hitting display to earn run-rule wins in each game. Oklahoma hit seven home runs over the weekend, including four in the regional clincher on Sunday.
The Sooners took care of business this weekend and advanced to the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament for the 15th consecutive season. They'll face the No. 15 seed Alabama Crimson Tide at Love's Field in Norman with game one on Friday.
But before we move on to the super regional round, let's take a look at the three stars from Oklahoma's three-game sweep in the regionals.
1. Kasidi Pickering, OF
She's just in her second postseason, but Kasidi Pickering has already become one of the most impactful players in college softball in the postseason. In the Oklahoma Sooners sweep of the Norman Regional, Pickering raised her batting average by nearly 20 points, hit three home runs, and drove in nine RBIs. She hit .625 with four walks over the weekend, setting the tone for Oklahoma to outscore their opponents 31-3 this weekend.
In 11 career NCAA tournament games, Pickering is hitting .473 with eight home runs, 19 RBIs, and 12 walks. She's been fantastic since arriving in Norman, but the true sophomore takes her game to another level in the postseason.

2. Sam Landry, P
Another player that takes their game to another level in the postseason is pitcher Sam Landry. Two years ago, she helped Louisiana eliminate the LSU Tigers from the Baton Rouge regional. This year, she was awesome in the Norman regional. Landry got the start in all three games and threw 10 innings, allowing just two earned runs, while striking out 11.
She had to work around five walks and three hit batters, but she was able to limit the damage and not let Oklahoma's opponents back in the game. She improved to 22-4 on the season and lowered her ERA to 2.00 in the process.
3. Gabbie Garcia, SS
The phenomenal freshman's impressive season continued as the page turned to the postseason. In Oklahoma's sweep, she hit .428 with two home runs and four RBIs. After an 0-for-2 day at the plate against Boston, Garcia was 3-for-5 over the final two games.
Even though she didn't record a hit in her NCAA tournament debut on Friday, she came to the plate with an aggressive approach. She didn't let the moment stifle that aggression, and it carried over to Saturday and Sunday. She was perfect in the field and proved ready to perform on the big stage.

Honorable Mention - Bullpen
The Oklahoma Sooners pitching staff has had some good moments in 2025, but it's struggled with consistency. Over the weekend, though, they found it, allowing no earned runs in five innings pitched across three games. Kierston Deal, Audrey Lowry, Isabella Smith, and Peytn Monticelli combined to allow just two hits over the weekend.
The Oklahoma Sooners will need their bullpen to come through during the postseason, especially to keep Sam Landry fresh to start games. That Oklahoma was able to sweep the regional without having to overextend their ace is a credit to the bullpen stepping up and handling their business.
