Pick Of The Day: 1994 Ford F-150 Xlt Supercab

I’ll always have a certain fondness for GM’s Advance Design (Chevrolet) and New Design (GMC) trucks because I remember accompanying my dad when he bought them back when I was a kid. But those pickups are more his generation. As someone who largely grew up in the ’90s, I identify more with “OBS” (Old Body Style) Fords, especially because I have pleasant high school memories of riding to lunch with my buddy Jake in his ’96 F-150. So when I saw this 1994 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCab, I just had to make it the latest Pick of the Day. It’s listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a dealership in Centerville, Indiana.

The 1992-1996 Ford F-150 nailed a visual sweet spot — it wasn’t quite as boxy as its predecessor, but it wasn’t as curvy as its successor. Even 30 years after it went out of production, it’s still handsome and tasteful. The ’94 model you see here looks especially good in its combination of Deep Forest Green and silver. Chrome bumpers, grille, and mirror caps add a bit of flash and make the truck look more high-end. According to the dealer, “The body is straight, the chrome grille and bumpers remain attractive, and the truck has no visible body rust. It is not flawless, and there are minor age-related imperfections and normal signs of use, but the overall condition is impressive for a 32-year-old pickup. The cab corners, rocker areas, doors, and bed all appear solid.”

Part of the reason this truck has held up so well is that it has only 65,793 miles on, which is impressive for any vehicle this age but downright shocking for a truck. Many times pickups like this have been driven into the ground — and it shows. Like the exterior, the Opal Grey cloth interior has benefited from light usage. Features include a switch for the dual fuel tank setup, cruise control, column-mounted shifter for the four-speed automatic, factory AM/FM radio with cassette player, and air conditioning. The dealer reports, “The carpeting, headliner, dashboard, door panels, and trim are all in good original condition, with no major damage or excessive wear.”

Ford offered the ’94 F-150 with three engines, including a 5.0-liter V-8 and a 5.8-liter V-8. To my pleasant surprise, this one has something that is foreign to modern F-150s: a naturally aspirated 4.9-liter I-6! Ford rated the big six at 150 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque — plenty for small home improvement projects or hauling mountain bikes to a fun trail.

Ford F-150s of this era continue to look great, but this 1994 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCab will look even better in person — as in parked in your driveway. You can get it there for $21,000.
