Pick Of The Day: 1956 Ford F-100

I’ve tracked down quite the package deal for you today. If you’re a fan of old Ford trucks, you might as well be proud of it. This one comes with a matching T-shirt, so there will be no question of who’s driving the yellow F-Series at the next cars and coffee event. The Pick of the Day is a 1956 Ford F-100 truck listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a private seller in Somers, Montana.

By 1956, the Ford F-Series line was at the tail end of its second generation. Even though a new body style was set to debut shortly thereafter, Ford hadn’t stopped improving the platform each year. A magazine advertisement said, “The built-in convenience of new driverized cabs with full-wrap windshields cuts driving strain, makes work easier. New exclusive safety features such as Lifeguard steering wheel and Lifeguard door latches give you a measure of protection never before available in any truck.”

“New styling… for duty, as well as beauty, stamps Ford trucks with a new eye-catching look of leadership that builds prestige for your business, makes you prouder than ever to own a Ford truck,” ads said.

Exterior features of this eye-catching restomod include yellow paint, red pinstriping, chrome grille, dual side mirrors, running boards, Model A-style chrome rear bumpers, louvered tailgate, and 15-inch steel wheels wrapped in a mixed set of Uniroyal and Cooper tires. The fuel tank has been relocated to underneath the wood-lined cargo bed.

Interior features include a black vinyl bench seat, three-point safety belts, body-color dash, power windows, power steering, tilt steering column, Kenwood CD stereo, and VDO-branded gauges.

Under the hood is a 302ci V-8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Performance goodies include a FiTech fuel-injection system, Edelbrock intake manifold, tubular headers, Flowmaster mufflers, Ford Racing valve covers, and Aeromotive fuel pump. The truck’s chassis has been upgraded with an independent front end, four-link rear end, coilover suspension, and four-wheel power disc brakes.
