  • Dodge has begun accepting orders for the 2026 Charger R/T.
  • It starts at $49,995 and will go into production early next year.
  • Twin-turbo six-cylinder provides 420 hp and 468 lb-ft of torque.

Dodge has opened orders for the entry-level Charger R/T, which will go into production early next year. The model starts at $49,995 and will be available in two- and four-door configurations with the latter costing an additional $2,000.

That’s a significant premium over the 2023 Challenger R/T, which began under $40,000. However, the 2026 Charger R/T features a new twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six developing 420 hp (313 kW / 426 PS) and 468 lb-ft (634 Nm) of torque. That’s 45 hp (34 kW / 46 PS) and 58 lb-ft (79 Nm) more than the old 5.7-liter Hemi V8.

While diehard fans will still complain about the lack of a V8, the Hurricane inline-six enables the Charger R/T to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in approximately five seconds flat. The model is also expected to run the quarter-mile in 13.6 seconds and have a top speed of 168 mph (270 km/h).

Sticking with the performance theme, the engine is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel drive system. The model also has a limited slip differential and a rear-wheel drive function for added fun.

Dodge hasn’t released a detailed equipment list for the R/T, but the automaker confirmed the model will be offered with a Performance Handling.

It adds Launch Control, a Custom drive mode, a performance suspension, and a Brembo braking system with six-piston front calipers. Inside, the package includes sport seats and “Performance Pages” for the infotainment system.

If you’re more concerned about technology, the R/T Plus trim has fancier LED headlights, a larger 16-inch digital instrument cluster, and a head-up display. They’re joined by a 64-color ambient lighting system and a surround view camera system.

Customers can also get a Blacktop Package, which features black 20-inch wheels, dark badging, and dark exhaust tips. Other options include a panoramic glass roof and an 18-speaker Alpine premium audio system.
