BMW has become the first premium German automaker to secure eligibility for the UK Government’s full £3,750 Electric Car Grant (ECG), making selected versions of the BMW iX1 and BMW iX2 significantly more affordable for British buyers.

The move lowers entry prices across qualifying models and, in some cases, makes BMW’s all-electric compact SUVs less expensive than their petrol-powered counterparts.

Electric BMW SUVs Now Cost Less Than Comparable Petrol Models

The government’s Electric Car Grant applies to eligible battery-electric vehicles that meet strict environmental and sustainability requirements. Thanks to BMW’s successful application, customers purchasing qualifying iX1 and iX2 models can now benefit from the maximum £3,750 incentive.

One of the biggest highlights is the BMW iX1 eDrive20 Sport, which now starts from £33,315 on-the-road after the grant. By comparison, the similarly equipped BMW X1 sDrive20i Sport with a petrol engine starts from £37,540, giving the electric version a clear price advantage.

The newly introduced BMW iX2 eDrive20 Sport also enters the lineup at £33,315 after the grant, providing another affordable entry point into BMW’s electric SUV range.

BMW Expands the iX2 Range

Alongside the pricing changes, BMW has introduced the iX2 eDrive20 Sport, a new trim designed to broaden customer choice.

Standard equipment includes:

– 17-inch alloy wheels
– High-gloss Shadowline exterior trim
– Front Sport seats

The new Sport model joins the existing M Sport variants, offering buyers a more accessible option without sacrificing BMW’s premium design and driving character.
