Autohunter Spotlight: 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Custom Two-door Post

“See the USA in your Chevrolet and get that Chevy feeling!” said a catchy television ad from 1956, just as the 1957 models were starting to roll out. Some 70 years later, it’s safe to say that many people still love the “Chevy feeling” they get from the iconic Bel Air. Featured on AutoHunter is a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Custom 2-Door Post that is bound to deliver the same emotions. The car is listed for sale by a private seller in Petaluma, California.

The car was frame-off restored in 2018 in red, and it looks sharp from front to back. Exterior features include chrome brightwork, dual side mirrors, and 18-inch American Racing wheels wrapped in staggered-width Nitto tires. Notice the characteristic “V” emblem from the hood and trunk lid have been shaved for a smoother look, and the car no longer has windshield wipers.

Back to the topic of of GM’s marketing materials, this video is worth a watch.

“The Bel Air sport coupe: long, low, beautifully put together,” it says. “Is it sweet, is it smooth, is it sassy? Is it lower and longer, lively and stronger? You bet!” For better or for worse, I promise you’ll have the jingle in your head all day now.

The interior of this restomod features bucket seats, custom center console, air conditioning, power door locks, power windows, power steering, tilt steering column, Bluetooth-equipped Kenwood audio system, and AutoMeter gauges. The odometer reads 1,314 miles, although the title reads mileage-exempt.

Under the hood is a chrome-laden 350ci V-8 with a four-barrel carburetor and a mild cam. A Turbo Hydra-matic 350 three-speed automatic transmission directs power to the rear wheels. Chassis upgrades include Wilwood four-wheel power-assisted disc brakes and dual exhaust system. The seller has provided a video with a start-up sequence, with the exhaust note being choice.

By the way, that “See the USA” jingle dates as far back as the late 1940s. It was famously sung by Dinah Shore, who was known for her warm voice and her southern charm. Maybe Chevrolet should bring the slogan back? And maybe you should consider placing a bid on this ’57 Chevy so you can put together some USA road trips of your own!

The auction for this 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Custom 2-Door Post ends Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 11:45 a.m. (PDT).
