The 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV arrives with a comprehensive set of upgrades, reinforcing its position as Mitsubishi’s electrified flagship.

With increased electric range, more power, enhanced comfort, and improved efficiency, the latest model builds on a proven formula that continues to attract new buyers to the brand.

Set to reach dealerships in early May, pricing starts at $43,245 (excluding destination fees), positioning it competitively in the growing plug-in hybrid SUV segment.

For 2026, Mitsubishi Motors has taken a significant step forward—every Outlander model is now electrified. The updated plug-in hybrid variant joins a newly introduced mild-hybrid model, aligning with the company’s broader Momentum 2030 strategy for North America.

Bigger Battery, Longer Range, Stronger Performance

The biggest upgrades come under the skin. A new 22.7 kWh battery increases capacity by 15%, while improved cooling and thermal management boost power output by an impressive 60%.

Key performance highlights include:

– All-electric range: Up to 45 miles
– Total system output: 297 horsepower
– Efficiency: 73 MPGe
– Expanded EV driving capability in more real-world scenarios

Revised steering and suspension tuning further enhance driving dynamics, delivering a smoother and more engaging ride.

Refined Interior with Premium Touches

Inside, the Outlander Plug-in Hybrid benefits from the same mid-cycle refresh introduced in the 2025 model. Updates focus on comfort, usability, and premium feel:

– New seating materials and available cooled front seats
– Redesigned cupholders and wireless charging pad
– Larger center armrest storage
– Improved cabin insulation for a quieter ride

A standout addition is the available Yamaha audio system, offered in both 8-speaker and 12-speaker configurations, delivering a richer in-car listening experience.

Sharper Exterior Design

Subtle yet effective exterior updates improve both aesthetics and refinement:

– Redesigned hood and front grille for reduced wind noise
– Updated front and rear bumpers
– Standard LED lighting throughout, including new smoked-finish taillights
– New 18-inch and 20-inch wheel designs depending on trim

These changes give the SUV a more polished and modern presence on the road.

Proven AWD Capability

Every model comes equipped with Mitsubishi’s Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) system, a motorsport-inspired setup that enhances traction and stability across various driving conditions.

Trims, Warranty, and Availability

The 2026 Outlander Plug-in Hybrid will be available in four main trim levels — ES, SE, SEL and the new-for-2026 Black Edition — with select packages and accessories available to add additional equipment to all models.

Buyers also benefit from Mitsubishi’s strong warranty coverage, including a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, five-year/60,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty, seven-year/100,000-mile anti-corrosion/perforation limited warranty, two-year/30,000-mile limited maintenance program, and five-year/unlimited-mile roadside assistance program.
